Over 5 classes, we’ll explore a practice grounded in rest, relaxation, and visualization to explore elements and concepts from Yoga philosophy. All you need is a quiet-ish space.

What is Yoga Nidrā

Yoga Nidrā is a state of complete relaxation where inner awareness is progressively induced by following a set of verbal instructions.

Although the aim of Yoga Nidrā, like meditation, is samādhi, or meditative absorption, practitioners find the after effects of Nidra sessions are relaxation, a feeling of being well rested, and an ability to better manage stress and anxiety.

A style that is not physically demanding, Yoga Nidrā is suitable for anyone seeking a mindfulness practice.

What to Expect

Over our 5 x 35 minute sessions together you will…

Experience the Pancha Maya Koshas or 5 Layers of Self.

Learn to set intentions or sankalp.

Cultivate Interoception (awareness of the inner body)

Be encouraged towards a lifestyle that includes rest.

Practice either in community or on your own schedule.

Stimulate your parasympathetic nervous system to promote relaxation.

Receive encouragement and support for developing your yoga practice.

Practicing Yoga Nidra

Yoga nidra only requires a device to access recordings and a comfortable quiet-ish place like your bed or couch. Headphones encouraged!

Practicing Yoganidrā can…

Cultivate feelings of being well rested (either inducing sleepiness or wakefulness depending on the individual).

Produce favorable changes in measures of Heart Rate Variability .

Promote relaxation and reduced stress in practictionners.

Create new patterns of behaviour by accessing deep states of awareness.

Be great for students who are not able to practice more physically demanding styles due to injury, pregnancy, lack of energy (interest) or space.
